Due to the escalating health crisis linked to covid-19, we have reluctantly taken the decision to cancel Primary Thursday training sessions from immediate effect. This means that training will not take place from 19 March onwards until further notice.
I spoke to Renfrewshire Leisure’s Facility Duty Manager today, and although facilities including Park Mains Sports Centre remain open, given the widespread closures of several other local authorities’ facilities, it is felt that it will not be long until Renfrewshire Leisure follows suit.
However, regardless of such a decision, our first consideration is the health and welfare of our players, and so to avoid any unneccesary risk to our members (and our coaches and committee members), we feel the best course of action is to minimise that risk and cancel our training sessions.
We make this decision with a heavy heart as healthy excercise will be a crucial factor in players’ wellbeing over the next few weeks and months, so we hope that players will find alternative ways to maintain their fitness so that we’ll all be ready to go once basketball resumes after the crisis has passed.
We hope you support us in this decision and look forward to your continuing support when training gets back to normal.
